Ever have a defining life moment you wish you could do over? Harley Spark has one. The time she almost kissed the widowed father of the toddler she nannied for. It was so bad they moved across the state and she never saw them again.
Fast forward seven years and she’s totally over it. At least she thinks she is. Until Gavin Rhodes and his adorable now nine-year-old daughter, Peyton, reappear at a princess-themed birthday party hosted by Spark House, Harley’s family’s event hotel. Despite trying to avoid the awkwardness of the situation, she can’t help but notice how unbearably sexy he looks in a tutu. Add to that a spontaneous hives breakout, and it’s clear she’s not even remotely over the mortification of her egregious error all those years ago.
Except Gavin seems oblivious to her inner turmoil. So much so that he suggests they get together for lunch. For Peyton’s sake, of course. It’s the perfect opportunity to heal old wounds. Or it could just reopen them. This is one of those times Harley wishes she could see the future…
Unfortunately, no amount of fairy dust is going to get me out of this situation. I’m particularly conspicuous in my pink tutu and my sparkly shirt, but I’d hoped I could blend in with the kids because I’m not a whole lot taller than some of them and they’re dressed very much like me.
Thanks to Lynn, that’s not going to happen. His gaze swings my way and his eyes widen, probably because of my outfit and the fact that he’s registered that I am not, indeed, one of the children.
Despite my high level of mortification and my desire to be beamed up by aliens, I can fully appreciate how good the past seven years have been to him.
He’d only been in his late twenties when he became a dad. Back then, I’d thought he was attractive, but now, he’s moved to a whole new level of hot. It’s clear that he’s spent a lot of time at the gym, or something. He’s all broad shoulders and biceps, with thick forearms, and I’d have to guess he’s sporting some sweet abs under that navy polo.
He’s paired it with gray shorts and casual sandals. His dark hair is a little longer than I remember and definitely the kind of wavy and thick that makes you want to run your fingers through it.

"It’s odd how easy it seems to be to slip right back into old ways with Harley. Having her in my house and my kitchen should feel strange, but it doesn’t. She seems to fit. Maybe it’s the comfort of familiarity."

I received the ARC! This troupe isn't one of my favorites, but I do love a single-dad story. All three Spark sisters deserve the best. This is Harley's story.
Harley loves children and is a child at heart. Gavin is a protective dad who is heartbroken over the loss of his wife. His daughter Peyton needed a caretaker, and Haley was the nanny to do it.
Sparks started to fly due to close proximity. Gavin decided to move Peyton, his daughter, closer to his in-laws once the boundary was crossed.
Several years later, they have a chance encounter, and the flame has relit. He's got to move past his baggage, and she's got hers.
Will they find their way to creating a new family of broken pieces put together to make something beautiful?
I recommend! It will give you all the feels.
